With nine days left in the month, I managed to run two chunks today for a total of 1.05 miles. (.6 and .45) Go me! The iPod’s battery didn’t die this time, and I decided I should have started running to music a long time ago. It’s just enough of a distraction and energizer to keep me going.

Excuse my typos for the next few days – I have a gash along the nail of my right index finger that’s wrapped in gauze, and thus that finger is too clunky to type with.
Why, you might ask? My alarm clock bit me.
To be more precise, the spring for the winding mechanism sprung, whipping the key-shaped knob around with great force. Unfortunately, my finger was right next to it at the time as I twisted the time knob.
(Pause for everyone to stop laughing)
It looks kind of weird, but doesn’t seem to be infected, so I’ve managed to avoid the hospital thus far. *crosses fingers* Right now it’s wrapped so some air can get in because the skin was getting that weird white color it gets when it’s wrapped up too long. I’ll probably change the gauze pad again before bed and see how it looks there.

My newest toy is attached to my laptop via a USB cable as it downloads my music collection: it’s a black 4G iPod nano. 
(And this sounds so dumb, but it’s soooo cute!)
I used the portion of my tax refund I allotted for “fun money” to buy it, and it arrived this afternoon. Now I can listen to my music while I work this weekend without dragging my laptop around!

Of course, I don’t know yet what we won for, but we got 17 awards in the annual press association contest. Using the list of people who did win as a tool, I figured two out through process of elimination, and knocked several out of the running. EE was laughing at me and my living logic puzzles. He knows what won and how it placed, but is sworn to secrecy. He’s enjoying watching me try and figure it out, though.
Oh, and the two we did win for? I was a part of both. One was the big project I did last year with sports, which I had hoped would win something. The other was a spot news story that I played a small reporting role in.

* I spent about 10 hours at work yesterday working on the Project From Hell, but got everything done that can be done, which will (hopefully) make the next two weeks less chaotic. And for the record, I probably could have finished in less time, but once the Super Bowl started, I kept turning away from the computer to see the commercials.
* Steph’s baby shower Saturday was a blast! Now if I can just finish assembling her present and mail it. *sheepish grin*
* I had my first appointment with my new doctor today – old one left the practice. I like her a lot better than the old one. Not for medical reasons, since there wasn’t much difference there, but her personality appealed to me more. So I finally got a new prescription for one medication, and she gave me another one to try that might help defuzz all the places that aren’t supposed to be fuzzy. (And clear up my skin and make it easier to lose weight) But it’s supposed to have not-great side effects in some people, so we shall see… She said if the side effects drive me nuts, I can stop taking it. It’s not critical.
* I finally checked out this store in the county that I had been meaning to stop by. It’s pretty cool, lots of bulk foods and really good deals. The best part? They actually carry Hershey’s raspberry chocolate chips, which I thought the company had stopped making because all the local stores had stopped carrying them. They had three bags, and I bought all three to use for cookies. I figure I can make a batch next Monday to bring in for Valentine’s Day on Tuesday.
* Little change in the social life category. He called twice tonight, but both times had to go when he got phone calls for a story he was working on earlier in the evening. We have yet to get together again, thanks to schedule conflicts, and we’re both hitting our busy season in the next few weeks. *sigh*
